They have the highest median salaries of major sports $5.5m, yet they are the 3rd most popular (behind football and baseball and hockey is creeping up) yet they throw money around for guys you wouldn't be able to pick out of a lineup. Josh McRoberts 4/$23 Jodie Meeks 3/$19??? Knicks are offering Carmelo 5/130. And this is with a soft cap and max salary. Think about how much higher the salaries would be if it were an uncapped league.

The inflated market is so far keeping one of my teams from getting quality players on their budget.

Small roster sizes drive up the median salary.

They are underpaid. And the reason they make more is simple... the number of players.

There are 15 guys on an NBA roster.

Baseball and football have a ton of guys on a roster.

Therefore, more money per person in the NBA.

I don't think that they are over paid at all, especially when you consider the amount of revenue that the league generates.

I do , however, think that the way their contracts are structured is ridiculous. Guaranteed contracts cripple make it very difficult to get the best product on the floor.

They have fewer players than any other major sport, both on the roster and on the court / field at any one time, and the impact of a single superstar there far outweighs the impact of a single superstar in any other sport.

A-Rod was a great player, PEDs aside, but the Texas Rangers didn't win shite when he was their only player of note.

You could argue that NFL players are vastly underpaid.

Sure they are. What about all the money a guy like Bron or MJ brings in?

Same with Nick Saban. Look at all the money the football program brings in to the university. He's underpaid, still, IMO.

Falsest statement ever made. One is worth a particular percentage of what they can make others.

They are professional entertainers, who happen to be athletes.

I should qualified, in the sense of "other sports leagues". In general athletes, actors, are not over/underpaid
