i like the sandbox idea where they are allowed to post on this one netherworld board.

Banned board should have no rules, and you can get out early for good behavior...so if you want to go nuts in there, it can only hurt you. TD's greatest/worst trolls would all be confined to one place

How about a red x on the left side the banned username and do away with Avi and sig disappearing if the site ownership so desires?

Why? So we could never see it? Unless a banned poster has a sticky somewhere, when are you going to see a poster's avatar who can't post anymore?
