Houma resident kills man for waking him by knocking on neighbor's door

HOUMA, La. -- A Houma man gunned down an early morning visitor because the victim banged on a neighbor's door and woke him, police said.

It happened in the 8000 block of Big Cypress Street.

Ray Carlos, 58, of Big Cypress Street yelled at the man who awoke him by banging on an across-the-street neighbor's door at 3 a.m., confronted him outside and fired a single shot that hit the victim in the head, killing him instantly, Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis said.
