So I've got a white hat that's not so white anymore...ideas on how best to clean it? I've done the dishwasher but that just messes them up...dip in bleach and rinse?

Always used the dishwasher with success for white hats. Messing them up how?

Its tough having them in the summer. Cleaning never really works, just buy a new one after you wear it and sweat in it.

Do you have the little plastic rack that helps them keep there form?

If the bill is plastic you can throw it in the washer on delicate cycle.
Hot water, bleach at your own risk. If it's embroidered then more than likely they used poly thread which is bleach safe, but if they used rayon then it will take the color out.

I also use warm water and soap in the sink. I've never had much luck with hats in the washer, always come faded or either with a lot of fuzz on them

I just throw all mine in the washing machine and it hasn't hurt any of them yet. I do have a couple that the metal clasp in the back has rusted off, so I can't wear them until i get that fixed
ETA:
Just take Les Miles' castoffs- he only wears them once anyway

Soak in a bucket of warm water with woolite (if its a plastic bill), then scrub with a soft toothbrush with the grooves. Air dry.

I've put my white titleist hat in the dishwasher about 6 times now. I'm playing about 3 times a week, so it gets a good bit of use.
Never had a problem with it. Top rack, bill wedged between two prongs, and when the normal wash is over I take it out and wrap a rubber band around the bill.
You must be doing it wrong.

You don't clean hats. You wear them until they die, then give them a proper burial.

I use a toothbrush and soap or throw it in the washer. I have a white hat that's stained yellow from sweat. That shite won't come out.
