23 years ago, I was traveling through Illinois and got pulled over for speeding. 62 in a 55. Got home after the trip. Called to see how much it was $57.00. Wrote check and mailed it to them. Today I went to the mail box and there was a collections notice. 23 yrs and 2 months. I have never had my license suspended and have 2 other tickets that I remember. One here in ms and the other one was in KS. Illegal right hand turn in KS.

What should I do?

Throw it in the trash. It's been 23 years and they haven't done anything? That's ridiculous

Do you know if your check was ever cashed?

If you can come up with proof of payment, I would send them a bill for the time it took you to research it....
