Clean outside of a chimney?

The outside face of the my chimney that is opposite the roof edge has some mildew stains that I want to remove. I'm going to have to get on the roof to reach it. I normally use a diluted bleach solution to clean the outside walls of my house.
Is there any harm is using this on my roof?
I would do my best to rinse it off.

I use bleach/simple green. Can't see how it would cause a problem. Especially if you are washing it off.

I thought so too, but my Dad was making me paranoid about not getting it off entirely and causing nails or flashing to rust. IDK.

If it is opposite the roof edge, why would you care if it has mold on it? Surely it can not be seen from the ground.

It's not prominent, but it can defintiely be seen from the front. Once I noticed it, it started bothering the crap out of me.

Rent a pressure washer and blast it off. When the bricks dry in a few days, seal them with concrete sealer. Don't bust your arse.

I doubt the bleach would be a strong enough acid to remove the galvanization and rust any metal. Washing it would lessen these effects even more.

Bleach has screwed up a lot of shite on my house through the years, so I seldom use it...there is a product at Home Depot called MoldArmor that is cheap and works at least as well...and it won't mess up your shite.
