The very first episode of Seinfeld was broadcast July 5, 1989.

There's a lot of digital ink to be spilled over the show's legacy and impact, but let's face it: The moment you saw that S-word in the above headline, your mind immediately recalled two things – the show's theme and about a half-dozen of your favorite lines.

The write off conversation between Jerry and Kramer is and will always be my favorite scene.

Jerry: "You don't even know what a write off is."

Kramer: "Well they do, and they're the ones writing it off."

So many great lines...by the far the greatest tv show ever.

Riley: "George, the ocean called, they're running out of shrimp".

George: "oh yea Riley, the jerk store called and they're running out of you."

All the tv network execs need to know about themselves today is that Seinfeld probably wouldn't make it past the pilot if it were pitched today. Hell it barely made it that first season as it is. Networks simply don't give different stuff a chance now.

If there isn't immediate result, thet cut it loose and replace with cheap safe reality programming, leading to their downfall.

The good news is that cable has benefited greatly with outstanding shows and acting performances as a result. Makes me wonder if network tv will ever properly react.
