Just had sod put down at the new house today. I don't know much about keeping it alive. Obviously I know to water the shite out of it. But can I water in the middle of the day or will that scorch it? When should I fertilize? Any tips would be appreciated. In south louisiana fwiw.

I'd water early am. Just lay the hose down and move it periodically. You lose a lot when you use a sprinkler

You want to keep it so wet that you can not walk on it, and in July that means you will have to water it during the day

Don't fertilize till next spring

Try not to cut it for a few weeks for the first time

Youngsville. So it's OK to water right now at noon?

I personally wouldn't water at high noon.

Early am, late pm. It's only gonna absorb so much water.

Don't water late evening or night. You don't want it to sit wet overnight and cause fungus.

Early morning watering is best. Don't mow it until you can't stand looking at it any longer. Don't apply any fertilizer or herbicide for 120 - 150 days.
Don't walk on it other than what is absolutely necessary to keep it watered. Seal any exposed edges with topsoil in order to limit dryness around the borders.
