But the governor, who previously opposed legalization because he saw "so many risks," now readily admits that many of his fears surrounding the topic have gone unrealized: The state has not seen a giant spike in adult consumption or an uptick in pot-impaired drivers, there hasn't been an increase in marijuana trafficking to neighboring states, and while the black market for weed still exists, "it's been damaged."

And Hickenlooper estimates the state will reap between $60 million and $100 million in taxes from the marijuana industry this year, and $130 million in 2015.
When do y'all think the first "southern" state will legalize this stuff? And which state will it be?

I don't smoke it, but I would be completely in favor of legalizing it.

Soon, and Louisiana.

So I guess you would say you currently are in favor of legalizing it or, maybe later?

John Hickenlooper is the governor of Colorado.

Texas or North Carolina will fall when a Midwest state pulls the plug.

Florida is very close to legalizing it for medicinal purposes.
LA, MS, and AL will be the last states to ever legalize it for any purpose. IMO

As long as it's a state that's within easy driving distance, I don't really care what state it is. I'd prefer it to be the one I live in, but I'm willing to travel.

Soon, and Louisiana.
Based on what I've heard, Arkansas seems to be the southern state with the best chance at pioneering.

Arkansas has already come surprisingly close.

I don't see LA, as a state, decriminalizing it anytime soon
but I could see NOLA doing it

It's not going to be LA as long as we have the same dumbshit career politicians that want to keep funneling cash to their buddies in the sheriffs offices for the "war" on drugs, where they get to split up the cash seized from the streets.
My guess is florida.
My guess is florida.

Florida, in the November election. It will begin with "medical" use marijuana but, it will eventually move to full legalization.

I'd probably think Texas first, if that counts as the "south". Then maybe Florida. It's hard to say where Louisiana would be, but I'm sure we'd do it before Mississippi and Alabama. Georgia is pretty bible belty...
It's a good question. I know Arkansas and Tennessee and the Carolinas are a religious bunch. I'd guess you could look at alcohol norms in the southern states but that might not really fly in conjunction here.

How can Babtiss Arkansas be so close and Babtiss/Catlick Louisiana be so far away?
