Hunting the Prairie for Teal Season Do's and Dont's

I plan in hunting the prairie for teal season exclusively.... I have never been out there and I plan to scout before the season starts.
Any tips for a first timer?
I will be using my 14' allweld with a 16hp go devil.
It appears the boat launch is way the frick at north pass? Is this the only boat launch and do you have to cut through the boat channel under the interstate?
Where on Galva Canal is the self clearing permit station?
Can I bring my retriever out there or is the gators too bad?

I never went but I will pass along what I was told when I had planned to go.
It is a pain in the arse and you can't run your mud motor everywhere, so be sure to look at the map of restricted zones on the ldwlf website. Not sure about gators but do not try to walk anywhere. You will sink to your tits in mud and it will be hell to get out of

I am close friends with the two guys who learned this the hard way. I told them my plan and their experience talked me out of it

As already said, I think most of the Prairie is paddle only, which makes for a pain in the arse. I launched a small boat south of the bridge before straight into the water with no ramp. It wasn't bad. There is a check in station down the Galva canal on the right at the wildlife station.
And also, don't think you're going to put waders on and walk around. Mud is soft as shite out there.

I wouldn't take a dog on any Sept. hunt. Too many gators....

This for sure. Dam shame they steal your birds that are down on the water.
