LSU walk on receiver and active duty Marine Luke Boyd promoted to Staff Sergeant

quote:

Boyd is earning his education at LSU as part of the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Educational Program, or MECEP, a highly-competitive program that puts enlisted Marines through college so they can earn an officer's commission. He's fairly certain that he's the only active duty military member currently on a Division I football roster.

Now that is dedication right there. Not only does he have football practice, but he has his military commitment. Congrats sir.

I think the military sort of "works" with him on that, if you know what I mean
ETA: also gets a monthly check and health benefits and probably housing

While he's aware that he's behind some talented players on the depth chart, Boyd hopes he can find a way to contribute to the team on the field this fall. He's been working on special teams units, where he plans on "knocking some heads around."

F*ck. Yes. I would love to see a walk-on marine special teams ace as our head hunter on kick-offs
