true story - my next door neighbor took his rolex in for appraisal (he got it for $150 back in the 1960s) and it was pre-oyster..didn't even have a day/date feature.
they offered him $40,000 on the spot
he took the money. turns out this had some type of rare magnetic casing and his was in pristine condition.
he's retired so he took the $40,000 to put towards a new Acura SUV he came home with the next day.
he loves to tell me how he and his wife kept looking down at the cashier's check on the way to the bank and laughing uncontrollably.
