Obviously setting us up for some kind of big reveal....Alleva: "And the new capacity for Tiger Stadium is...." (drum roll from Golden Band from Tigerland) "This!" (Points at banner revealed by Golden Girls)

And the cheerleaders go crazy....

I'd laugh if he just trolled everyone and announced 99,987 as the full capacity.

They did this prior to the start of construction. I remember thinking, "why don't they just add 100 seats to make it. 100k?".

you actually cant get the approx figure until the construction is complete. that's why there hasn't been an exact figure released yet. It will be around 100k exactly, that's all we know at this point.

Really? They don't have blueprints or computer models that would show exactly how many seats the stadium would hold?

Well, it looks like they planned to add expansion room for later on, then they decided to fill it in.

Look at this very old rendering showing where the ribbon board were to be placed...

...notice the empty areas under the video screens, and at the end of the suites. Now look at the most current pic...

...all of those areas have been filled in. They must have found some wiggle room in the budget, and decided to add in the spaces they had previously decided to leave for later on.

At least, that's my theory. Who knows? LSU has really kept us in the dark with this expansion.

It's not up to the blueprints and computer models. It's up to the state fire marshal. When construction is complete, the fire marshal will inspect and come up with the official limit based on exits and stuff like that. It's not as simple as just making each seat a half inch narrower to increase capacity.

Any architect or contractor that didn't take all that into account beforehand would quickly be out of business.

I'm going on record as saying the mystery on the new capacity is totally LSU's doing. They will be making a big deal out of this.

Someone should tell the LSU AD we fans don't really care for these kind of surprises.

This is beyond stupid. They will be doing nothing of the sort.

Right. And if man were meant to fly, he'd have wings. Did you say, too?

All of this. LSU will make an event out of the opening of this new expansion. I'm starting to believe more and more that 103,500 might be possible.
