*calm down OTers, I'm talking about the TV show*

There's nothing more fun than watching American trash up close and personal, and god bless Spiketv for having it on marathon every day of the week

How the hell do people not always freak out about the camera? Seems like they barely notice this huge camera shining in their face? frick dash cams, cops all across the country should be forced to keep a camera guy recording their activities, there probably be a lot less bullshite

Animal Planet needs to revamp this show- buy the rights to old episodes and have Patrick Stewart do a voiceover commentary on the action. Would be ratings gold.

The only true reality show on TV. Been watching the show for 15+ years.

COPS is the shite.

I think I have literally seen 99% of the episodes....even the newer "COPS Reloaded". I DVR that shite...

Respect

I think I've run the gauntlet on the Spike episodes, they play the same ones over and over

When do new episodes come on?

ETA I really want to see the 1980/1990 episodes. Just for some historical perspective

Thing is, all those low lifes have to sign a release to be on the show. So not only did they get arrested, they agreed to have their asshattery shown on national TV.

I do watch and enjoy it. OTOH, I blame COPS for a lot of the excesses of law enforcement. It desensitizes the public and encourages the bad apples in uniform. Not every citizen in a perp, and not every shift ends in a foot pursuit. Or shouldn't, anyway.

That's what always gets me. That's their 15 minutes I guess

I still don't see how they know to completely ignore the camera in their face. I feel like the last thing I would want is a camera in my face while the cops are pulling meth by the pound out of my pockets

What's also great about the show is showing how bad most people are at lying. I always respect the guys that know they are busted and are just like "frick it take me away". Most however are like "nah all Those drugs ain't mine. Some guy just came up to me and shoved them in my pockets, I SWEAR ON MY MOMMA GRAVE MAYNE"

Nearly every episode has drugs involved in it, directly or indirectly. I can't wait for COPS episodes of the future where it involves actual police work and none of the bullshite with drugs. Those episodes with drugs feed into the proliferation of the war on drugs.

I had a VHS tape, yes I know I'm dating myself but who cares; of COPS circa ~1995 called "Too Hot for TV."

Some of it was stuff you saw on tv, the only difference was the swearing wasn't bleeped out.

But there were a few funny parts.

One part that I remember was this cop turning to go after somebody who was speeding or whatever, something where he was turning his car around in the street and follow another car and he runs out of gas.

The cars burps and sputters and he starts saying stuff like, "Oh man. C'mon. C'mon!!" and he looks at the camera and says, "You love this, don't you?"

Is that true? If they are in public, no release is necessary. Are you 100% sure of that?

I think that it's a requirement that you have to be holding a cigarette when talking to a cop.

Hang on sir, let me get mah cigritts first!!

I had this, too! It also featured non-blurred nudity and a guy whose skin was hanging off of him after a house fire.

My favorites are the "Tazed and Confused" episodes. Love me some screaming bitch tazed thug badasses.

I always thought it was possible that they could get their bond knocked down by 10-20 percent as an incentive to sign a release
