Are these watches worth a damn? Don't want a quartz for my next purchase and I can't tell if they are or not.

Here's what I'm looking at:

Laco Valencia Automatic Luminous Dial Watch with Sapphire Crystal 861651

OR

Laco Automatic 861611 (Barcelona) Watch

Watches are such a waste of money now that everyone carries cell phones

They sell quartz and autos, and manual winders I think. Cool watches. I bought a German competitor to them, Stowa...check them out too.

Look at the Marine Original.

Luxury cars are a waste of money when everyone can buy a Smartcar.

What is your point ?

But people like them so they buy them.

I like wearing a nice watch. I don't want to fumble in my pocket for my phone when I just need to see what time it is.

Do you strictly buy store brand products instead of name brand of the same item ?

A decent business professional should wear a watch. In an office setting, it is considered poor form to pull out your cell phone and check the time. Obviously this varies depending on where you work, but traditionally, in a professional environment, it is better to wear a watch.

in an office setting, everyone has computer monitors. Watch still not necessary

I've got your Stowa thread bookmarked actually.

I just like that I can order this immediately (as opposed to waiting months for Stowa) AND it's much cheaper.

Sabi, they're around $389.

Eta: I just can't tell if these watches are quartz or not. I do not want quartz.

I set a vibrate alarm on my phone when time to leave a meeting

More polite to my clients than checking a watch.

Aesthetically speaking, I think the watch is good looking okie. I didn't read about the mechanics of it or anything and I am not too savvy on that type of stuff. Looks great tho IMO

The most intellegent and successfully men in the world wear watches. I believe you are neither intellgent nor successful if you cannot understand why people wear watches.

If the back is exposed I doubt it's quartz.

Its an automatic. Says so right on the rotor. Plus quartz does not have a rotor...
