I currently have Cox and the package with sports and shite.
If I cancel that package and just go to basic cable will they take away my ability to use WatchESPN?

With your own cox user/pass you will be able to watch whatever channels you have through cox. I think the user/pass I use is just basic cable and I get whatever is on espn or espn2.

whats the point of ROKU if I can only watch the channels I already have on Cox?

On demand features. That's why I really like my Apple TV. I can watch anything that HBO has ever put out, and any movies that are current airing on HBO, on demand.

Short answer, yes. There are several Roku channels that are tied to your cable/satellite service. Not to condone any wrongdoing, but most are designed to be viewed on all of the subscriber's devices at multiple locations so it's not unheard of to share passwords with a friend.
