Just catch a changeable shaft ryobi/craftsman/similar on sale for under 100 and replace the entire thing every 5-7 Years when it goes bad. if you plan on doing extensive work with it I would get a stihl.

If you can spend 200, get an echo. Will last you long time

If you can swing the Echo at Home Depot, do it. If not, any of the cheap ones will last you a few years.

I have an echo I bought new in 2006, still runs great, and gets used a lot.

I agree. Echo. More money up front but will last forever with almost no maintenance. I've had mine for 13 years.

stihl makes a curved shaft line that is cheaper for residential use that works great...I have had one for 8 years now and had no problems at all...

Top of the line- Stihl

Midrange- Echo

Lower end- Craftsman, other off brands at Home Depot.

I'd buy a lightly used stihl over a new echo. Check out used to stay in budget

Not even close. There's a reason most pros with more than a handful of years exp use stihl, and it really ain't remotely close. Proof is in the pudding.

Not even close to necessary for a small yard. Akin to buying a F350 for a utility trailer.

No need to buy a worn out Stihl from a lawn company when you can buy a new Echo for cheaper.

Oh really

You know nothing on the subject obviously

If we were talking chainsaws stihl takes the cake but not in weedeaters

I bought a troy built from lowes, so far on its 3rd year, no problems. But, I put the premix 40-1 that you buy in a small can, also from lowes. And I also have a small yard, takes me maybe 10 minutes to weedeat. Had a shindawa before, but they stop making my particular one, couldn't find parts. The gas is importante, don't put ethenol gas in your weedeater, it'll frick it up in the long run.
