Here's the situation:

My car was purchased in Louisiana in 2008. I lived in Louisiana until 2010. I moved to Mississippi and registered the car there.

Now I'm back in Louisiana and need to get my car registere here. Several questions:

Do I need to get my Louisiana drivers license (again) first?

I have insurance in Mississippi on the car. Do I need to swap that to a Louisiana insurance company first?

I'm not changing who is on the registration/title, do I need anything notarized?

How much is this bullshite going to cost me?

I did them both at the same time.

I believe I switched right after. I could be wrong. It was a few years ago. regardless, prepare your butthole.

See above. Prepare your butthole. And bring cash or make sure the name on your check is exactly like your name on your license. I only had my middle and last name on my check and they wouldn't accept it. Had to hit up the ATM int he lobby.

Good news is, is LA is cheap when doing this sort of deal... probably less than $100 depending on the vehicle.
If you do register the car in LA you will need to get everything switched b/c insurance is usually based in the state that you reside in. If your domicile changes states then you should change your insurance. If they find out they will drop you.... or should drop you b/c technically you don't live where you say you do...
