This again. What is going on?

Well this will bring all this SC kumbaya stuff to a halt.

Has 35 feet been considered too far? It's slightly over half the distance between the pitching rubber and home plate.

How close must anyone come to another to holler at them, regardless of what they are hollering about?

Yeah but it's over the length of a first down and we all know that can seem like a mile at times.

I'm not sure but the SCOTUS ruled against the 35 toot buffer zone when any portion of it is on public property.

I was actually being serious and used that as merely a real world example of the distance.

Has 35' been seen as some barrier for those looking to protest abortion clinics? What are they unable to do at 35' that would be better done at 10', or less?

If 35' makes it so that because of the layout of the facility you'd have to stand in the street or be unable to protest because of the physical layout, then I can see an issue. If it has more to do with not feeling the details in their signs are not clear enough or something, then I'm not seeing the issue.

What am I missing?

FTR, I support anyone's right to protest...even those religious hacks at Westboro. I also tend to think that protesting, by it's very nature, pits tqo opposing sides in close proximity and having a nice little buffer zone seems like a solid practice.

This actually affects my trip to bring my daughter to pre-K every morning. As I've mentioned before on here, we walk past them every day.

Best guess?

The conservative bloc is holding strong at 4, with a swing vote to get them to 5 pushing them over the top, and the other 4 would rather push out a somewhat moderated verdict than whatever Scalia, Thomas, or Alito would write.

Seems like 35 feet on any side of an abortion clinic would be infringing on other properties making this a big headache to sort through.

Just a thought though. I have no idea what has been discussed on this.

My opinion is that a protester should never touch or impede someone from entering an abortion clinic. However, their right to voice a thought should not be restricted in any way. Demanding that they stand in a particular area is a restriction I do not agree with.

We don't have free speech zones in this country and we shouldn't. That said, no protestor should ever touch someone from the opposing sign and idk how to prevent that without required separation. This is the correct decision but we will have to find a other solution to prevent violence.

I agree. But this is a very emotional topic for some people and emotion often leads to non-rational behavior. Are there always cops out there? I agree we don't need new laws but I also know some people won't be able to control themselves.
