I had to eat there with a group of people (not my choice) and the food was straight up nasty.

They have New Orleans Salmon that is supposed to be crusted with some kind of Cajun spice and has pico de gallo all over it. I don't even ...

I didn't get that.

The salad was soaked in salad dressing and the lettuce was wilted.

The clam chowder was worse than the stuff out of a Campbell's can.

I got some kind of chicken in a wine sauce and it was basically a tangy brown gravy. It tasted like something out of a frozen dinner. My wife got shrimp. It was horrible.

I looked around the table and all of the food looked terrible. People were eating half of it and were done. Again, I didn't pick the place and had to be there.

Cheese biscuits made of Bisquick and garlic with cheese were fairly good, but that was it.

Seriously, the worst meal that I have had in a restaurant in forever, and all of the entrees were $15 each. No excuse for it.

Riiight.

Seriously, I would eat at Olive Garden every meal before I ever step foot in a Red Lobster again. I had to go to this thing because it was work related. I was laughing at the person who picked the place, but have only been to a Red Lobster twice before over 10 years ago. It was terrible then too, but not this bad.

"New Orleans" SALMON with pico de gallo.

Think about that for a minute.

I just don't get it.

Walk Ons must be serving moldy dog food, then.

I'd rather eat Puppy Chow than eat at Olive Garden or Red Lobster.

The Rotten Lobster here in Montgomery is always packed. I went to the one in Baton Rouge many years ago, I think that it was in the late seventies when the first RL entered the BR food scene. The food was awful back then and I have never been back to one ever since. That first RL did not last long in BR and I wasn't surprised. For those of you who like RL biscuits, they now sell a RL biscuit mix. I've never tasted their biscuits because that first RL did not offer biscuits.

That sounds like dog food to you just because they used "smothered?"

I don't understand all of the hate for Walk-Ons (some of it, but not all of it).

Is it overpriced? Yes
Is the food not as good as other places? Certainly
Is the food awful? No

TBH, they have a very good, but overpriced, shrimp po'boy. Most of their food is pretty good, but overpriced. Does that make them the worst place ever? No. It just means that they are an average, overpriced restaurant. In places outside of South Louisiana, Walk-On's would be a treasure.

As much as I complain about Walk On's their wraps and sandwiches are decent. Would eat at Walk On's over RL any day of the week if those were my only 2 choices.

I can understand people going to Walk-On's or Red Lobster in Baton Rouge. But the fact that people frequent the locations in New Orleans boggles the mind.

I happen to live near a red lobster that is near the HQ of one of its major casual-dining competitors.

That particular red lobster is money. Staff is great and food is >>> than any lobster I've been to. It's not bad when they execute like the commercials lead on.
