Any human mascot is vulnerable to the "its offensive" excuse.
The Notre Dame mascot has been discussed but also the Tennessee Volunteer. The Vols were made famous as insurgents against the Mexican army in the Texas war for independence. That may offend latino people.

I love it. The liberal's foot soldiers in the Thought Police Department and Offended Minorities Division are finally starting to go so far beyond the scope of reality in their push to "equalize" the world and make things "fair" and non-offensive I think you're going to see a major pushback by a huge majority of normal folks who abhor the real-life manifestation of the equivalent of Youtube commenters.

I'm a lifelong Giants fan but a couple years ago when it magically all of a sudden became "offensive" I bought a Chief Wahoo Cleveland Indians hat and wear it every so often and will continue to do so even if the left gets their wish and bans every semblance of reality they find uncouth or against the "greater good."
I'd love for some moron liberal to see me wearing it and call me a "fricking disgrace" to my face.
