Recently I have heard that the hotel is not that nice and its also in the ghetto. Anybody stayed there before? Is this information accurate? Should I move hotels? Where is everyone else staying?

Do not stay at the Crowne Plaza Reliant. Place is not very nice and the area around Reliant is the same. It is old and dirty. Rooms are outdated from what it looks like too. Read some of the reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor and you'd want to stay away. Stay somewhere in the Med Center or Downtown on the Light Rail route.

I've never stayed there but I have heard it's not very nice and the reviews on Trip Advisor throw up red flags. I mean that hotel has basically been there since the Astrodome was built.

Stayed there a couple of years ago. It wasn't that nice and there really isn't a lot around there besides Reliant Stadium.

This is actually a renovation of the old Astroworld Hotel. For a wile it was very cool place. Celestial Suites were crazy tacky and cool at the same time.Elvis stayed there (tells you how old it is. Became the Crown Plaza in 2011. Pretty run down now, not very well maintained.

Here's a link LINK /

If you're not staying downtown, you're doing it wrong.

Is there a short list of downtown hotels someone can recommend? I'm sure it's been posted before but I haven't seen any

Damn, hard to believe some suite in Vegas at the time wouldn't top that cost considering Ceasers Palace, the Dunes, Sands, Sahara, etc.!

I live on that side of town and drive past Reliant (I know, NRG stadium) and the Crowne everyday for work. Yes, it's run down and scuzzy looking. No, there's nothing cool nearby (unless you count the Chinese restaurant next door that looks like a converted Pay Less shoe store. There's also a newish biker looking bar right there that screams I-610 class).

However, you won't find a hotel closer to the stadium. It's an easy walk.

Downtown is pretty hit or miss so do your homework. Some hotels are great but there's construction going on next door (even on weekends) and it gets rough pretty quick depending on where you end up. There are some great areas with cool scenes down there though.

Midtown has a pretty lively scene and there's always the Galleria/ Post Oak area if your women like to shop (just be ready for the traffic). If your an aspiring hipster you could check out a b&b in Montrose (lots of rainbow flags) or the heights (hugely pretentious hipsters). Both have a really eclectic scene with tons of great food.

Have you ever stayed there or is this just from the outside?

Hotel is not very nice. Just face the facts
Seriously though from a Tiger fan to another DO NOT stay there. It's close to Reliant but that is all it has going for it. I repeat DO NOT stay at the Crowne Plaza Reliant.

I stayed in the Crowne Plaza here in Saudi and it is 5 Star. Their Breakfast Buffet is super. Rooms are great and a lot of room.

How many people have to tell you the place is a dump and in a shitty area before you change your mind? It's in the thread I started and this one. Change hotels dude.

the crowne plaza off kirby isnt that bad
also look into Double Tree, and Hotel Derek by the galleria depending on your price range. downtown can be a pain in the arse but its by midtown which is where most of the bars are.

Is there no parking near NRG stadium? Is that why someone would want to stay in that part of the city? There are some other hotels that are a walking distance from the stadium, but if you can park by the stadium, you can drive over from anywhere else. There are a million hotels in houston.
