The downtown hotels closest to the light rail (which leads to Reliant) are Sam Houston Hotel, Magnolia Hotel, Hotel Icon, and the Courtyard Marriott. There are obviously other hotels downtown, but I'm thinking about walking distance. Note that those hotels also aren't the nicest downtown. There's a Four Seasons and a Hilton that are pretty nice if you're looking for luxury.

yup, I am starting to lean towards this. What about midtown? Is there any hotels in midtown?
not really, but you can get there easily via the metro rail

Don't stay anywhere near the stadium. All the hotels around Reliant are not the nicest and the area is not the best.

My. buddy stayed there for the zac brown band concert and makes good money so he doesn't stay in dumps. We are all going back there for the LSU game. He said there are restaurants and bars we can walk to.

our main goal is to park friday and not have to move a vehicle until Sunday so it's perfect for us

I stayed there on numerous occasions visiting my dad while he was in the hospital near there. I have zero complaints but will admit the parking lot got a little sketchy one night. I am staying there for the LSU/Wisconsin game. It's an easy walk to and from the stadium.

Where is the Hilton America's in relation to the rail and is this a recommended place to stay?

That Hotel is near MMP & the Toyota Center. If you're attending the Astros game Firday night, its not a bad hotel. However, its a pretty far walk from the rail.

The Hyatt regency downtown still has rooms available for $139 a night. I thought I may have read on here that the team is staying there if it means anything to ya.

The team is staying at the Omni Hotel in the Galleria area.

It has been about 10 years, but I have stayed at this hotel. It was dated, but you can't beat its location. I fear the rail will be a zoo after the game due to the number of fans lodging downtown.

it's like 7 or 8 blocks. if you're not in a wheelchair that should be an easy walk

my wife walks further than that to the rail every day.

Thanks... Is there a better option you guys can recommend comparable to the Hilton that may be more convenient to the nightlife and rail? Preferably something as nice or nicer than HA.

I see plenty of people suggesting the light rail which is good for going to the game but leaving can be problematic. Before the game the fans all arrive a differing times which doesn't overwhelm the system. After the game you may have to wait awhile to catch the train back to a downtown destination especially if the game is close until the end. Just something to think about.

For the record the Crown Plaza there at Reliant is not very nice but if you do stay there make sure you request a "tower" room. They are better than the ones in the back of that hotel complex.

Thats my concern. Its not a problem for Texan's games because most fans drive in from the Houston area. For this game, far more fans will be lodging downtown & the rail system may get overwhelmed.

I've stayed there before but it's been a number of years. It's so close they actually have a gate from the hotel into the Reliant Parking lot, the stadium is literally a five minute walk from the gate. The hotel might actually bring their van around and shuttle guests over to the stadium gates.

If it's still too run down or whatever, on the OTHER side of the Astrodome/Reliant property over on is it Fanin or Main? There are some nice extended stay type places that are comfortable.

When in Houston, I like to stay at the Sheraton Four Points in Upper Kirby, just off of Kirby and U.S. 59.
