June 25th, 1987 Reagan declared as a National Catfish day. His words

quote:

"The catfish that are available today, fresh or frozen in markets nationwide, are products of state-of-the-art methods of aquaculture. They thrive in clean freshwater ponds on many American farms, where they are surface-fed soybean meal, corn, fish meal, vitamins and minerals. Farm-raised catfish not only furnish American consumers with a tasty delicacy but also provide a nutritious, low-calorie source of protein that is also low in cholesterol."

So tomorrow, remember to celebrate and go eat you a a big plate of southern fried US farm raised catfish. Support an American industry and American workers

I find bass and crappie to be the best tasting freshwater fish.

Catfish is the best commercially farmed freshwater fish imo.

They are trying to pass a law in MS to allow the commercial farming of gamefish such as bass and crappie...I really hope they do it.

They go by many names, but agreed.

There is nothing wrong with a good thick piece of white-meat fried catfish and side of puppies though!

fresh caught trout from a mountain lake, cooked over a fire while looking at mount evans, is the best tasting freshwater fish.

Fried catfish is excellent ... if, and only if ... seasoned and cooked correctly.

I'll put my Dad's fried catfish up against anyone's.

Not many mountain lakes here in Louisiana.

The owner was a guest speaker at the Annual Catfish Farmers Convention back in February....we had the convention in New Orleans.

I stopped by the restaurant and ate on the way home and spoke with him...really nice guy and was honestly the best catfish I'd ever eaten.
