Whether one believes in conspiracies or not, and whether there are groups among us that make all the major decisions, do you ever scratch your heads and wonder why we make some of the decisions we do as a country?
Things like giving billions of dollars to our enemies in aid? Things like, arming one faction in a war, only to arm the opposite side years later? Things like relying on as an energy source countries that despise us?
Are these things just inept decision making, local profiteering, politics, or something more? This short excerpt from a John Rosenstern article illustrates one possible option.

"There are many theories as to who makes up the “global elite” within the Illuminati today. Some believe it is a private board that directs its delegates who control the world’s major banks. They create inflation and recessions, and they manipulate the world’s economic system to their “destabilizing” benefit, which results in a redistribution of wealth and power for themselves. They support leaders and coups by undermining others that would hinder their goals. They seek to create crises after crises and then propose the solutions. The goal is to persuade the world that globalism is the answer with its centralized economic control and universal religious appeal that all faiths can unite by finding common ground and working together toward social justice. Their structure is summed up in the expression, “New World Order.” They will, of course, be the leaders. The United Nations, World Bank, and the media are said to be infiltrated and influenced by the Illuminati to brainwash gullible masses through thought control, education, religious beliefs, and political leadership. The underlying principle used by Illuminati members is deception. By deception and subtlety people can quickly be distracted from what is important to less significant issues, even lies made out to be “bigger than life.” Their “smoke-and-screen” approach is not just a method but a principle that governs behavior. The masses have been conditioned to react with skepticism by the institutional and media influences toward the “conspiracy” behind the Illuminati. Those who accept the idea that there is a global elite controlling the direction of events are viewed by the conditioned masses as foolish. Instead, the masses are under the skillful manipulation of human emotion of fear by the Illuminati strategists. The strategists create a problem. They also create the opposition groups to control the reaction to the problem. They will fund both sides of the debate or war to facilitate their solution. Illuminati strategy will also pin opposition forces against each other to wear them out financially, emotionally, and physically in order to bring resistance down to their pre-planned solution. Outcomes-based planning is the Illuminati’s modus operandi. They know where they want events to end and will use whatever means to obtain their desired end result; pragmatism-the end justifies the means. To the religious, they will use piety. For the eco-conscience, they will lure by presenting “mother Earth” friendly solutions. They will become whatever is necessary to appeal to the broadest possible audience. Have you ever wondered why some nations tolerate and defend that which opposes them? Have you ever considered how some political offices are filled by people who are unqualified or virtually unknown? Has it ever occurred to you that issues of minimal importance are heralded over the media while serious issues are given a yawn? "

Anyone who has power or desires power is capable of manipulating circumstances and events. I doubt that there is a grand conspiracy simply because human beings operating at that level would betray one another at every opportunity.

Well the thought process is that the powers that be control elections and appointments as to who gets in places of power and those people are controlled.

I've been asking the same simple question for awhile and have yet to get an answer from any of the conspiracy theorists....who are the "elite" or "powers that be"?

All of human history has been controlled by power, greed and money. I'm not naïve enough to think that somehow this just magically stopped in the last century.

Well the author list the 13 or so families and it's the usual players. Rothchilds, Getty's, Morgan's, Rockefellers, etc.

I do believe there is some sort of braintrust such as this at work. Not sure what name it's called or whatever but definitely something like this exists.

Maybe the author should've written the article in 1930

I think the chaos and violence we see in the world is a result of self-interested groups competing for finite resources. In a way, we're still very much tribal in our mindset. I think it just makes people feel better to think there is an explanation for all of it, so that's why groups like the Illuminati and 'the elite' are so often cited as the puppetmasters.

There have been powerful families throughout history. The Hapsburgs, the Plantagents, the Borgias, the Capetians, etc. They come and they go.

Don't forget about the Ewing's.

Seriously though, they all answer to the same boss.

"Here's to the new boss, same as the old boss..."

I find it interesting that anytime anything is written about those who do "pull the strings" they are described as some dark mysterious conspiratorial "illuminati" types.

Why do you think that is?

Except for Afghanistan and Iraq. That's the one exception, amirite?

So then why is stupid, incompetent politicians/government ALWAYS cited?
