Anybody know Tony the Barber on Jones Creek Rd. in BR? (update bottom of page 1)

He has been my barber for probably 20 years now. For about a month or so he has been closed and there is simply a handwritten blue sign on his door that says "Sorry...closed. Gone to have tests run".
I can put 2 and 2 together and assume that he must be pretty ill but I figure the OT is a random enough collection of people that maybe someone knows what is going on with Tony.

That's the one next to Jimbo's Seafood? I stopped in Jimbos and remember seeing that sign but that's been more than a month ago.
Ask the lady in Jimbo's. Surely she knows. I'm curious now that you mention it because it looked funny then. And I pass there at least once a day taking my kids to school or picking up and always saw him standing outside smoking.
I always kind of felt sorry for the guy because he looked like he was just scratching out a living and having a hard time. Might not be true, just an impression or observation from afar.

Yes...that is the one I am talking about.

I think he was doing ok financially...he had enough customers to support a business for 25 years.
His health hasn't been good the last few years...he hurt his back in a car wreck a while back, had a heart attack in the last couple years, and had some sort of deal that almost caused him to have his legs amputated. Also, earlier this year, he lost a step-son in a car wreck in Texas.

I may do that in the next couple of days...I think Tony was pretty friendly with them. Will report back if I get solid info.

I knew someone in the OT could help...
That is very unfortunate...I certainly hope his prognosis is good, but unfortunately I know first hand through my family how much of a bitch cancer is.
As much as I would love to see him return to work one day, he needs to get well and take care of himself. Tell him to hang in there and that he has customers that miss him!

Tony has been cutting my hair for about 12 years and is a genuine guy.
I wish the best for him. Who ever sees him, tell him his "golfing" customer sends his best.
When I get back to town later this week, I'll run by Jimbo's and get his address and make contact.
A big thanks to the OP for starting this thread.

Well he certainly has had some bad things but it sure sounds like he does have some loyal, caring, clients and friends.
Good luck to you guys friend. Prayers sent. If he happens to open again I might just stop in for a cut.

Is this the same Tony the Barber that had a shop on Hooper Rd about 10 years ago? And Plank Road before that?

No. This one has been on Jones Creek for at least 25 years.

No problem. I knew someone on here had to know something. As shady as the OT can be most of the time, there really is a lot of good that is done here

Yes there is. I've been here for a long time and regardless of the crap there are some really great, smart, caring people on this site and this board. And I can get through the dumbasses and appreciate and respect the good ones. It's pretty much an age factor I've found although some younger posters are pretty good as well.
