UPDATE..

Thanks for all the help and advice I received from many people on the OT the last few weeks with vehicle reviews.

Decided on a 2007 Toyota Tundra.

If you're looking for a great truck that will literally last forever, a Toyota Tundra is your truck

My criteria has been a 4x4, but I was blown away with the engine performance of the Toyota Tundra that I've been considering tossing out the 4x4 requirement.
What was the reason for wanting a 4x4? If you are willing to toss out that requirement based on a test drive, you likely don't need it and it would be a waste of money.

'08 Tundra has 72,000 miles and they are asking $17,500

Wow. In 2007 I almost bought a V8 extended cab F150, brand new for about $18,500. Wasnt loaded but had power window/locks. That's a lot of money for a 6yr old vehicle.

For work for when I visit job sites. But, I think the Tundra's power will be enough to get me through the few job sites I actually get to go out and visit.

Plus, I plan on leveling and putting 33" AT's in the near future if I do but this vehicle.

Big difference between a Ford and Tundra, IMO.

Most '08 Tundra's I've looked at online with the same specs are asking for closer to 20-22k.

Is the Tundra V8 any stronger than Chevy, Ford, Dodge V8s? I doubt it. It'll probably last longer than a Chevy but Ford makes a tough truck for a lot better price.

I'm on my 2nd Toyota truck had a lifted Tacoma first and now have a 2012 Tundra. You can't beat the way Toyota trucks drive and perform.

That seems like a good deal. Tundra is a tough reliable truck, make sure it's got clean records and go for it...you could probably walk with it for close to $16,000.

Has your Ford given you problems? Sounds like you got good use from it.

Standard V8s vs other standard V8s? Toyota and Ram's 5.7 V8s are more powerful than Fords 5.0 and GM's 5.3. I think the 5.7 hemi is slightly higher rated in power vs the Tundra's iForce 5.7...but they are close.

This is my first time buying a car. I was hoping to get them down to 16, if I can do that, I will sign right then.

Any tips on knocking them down $1500?

And my Ford has been great performance wise. Very reliable for the most part. Only issue was the inside was as flimsy as a barbie doll house. Very shitty interior design and durability. Everything started breaking inside the truck around 2009.

I have an 09 Tundra with 70k.... I've had only 1 problem. Water pump had to be changed.
They told me there is only 2 things that happen with that engine if taken care of... water pump and the valves have something that may happen at about 100-120k which apparently is warrantied. I avg about 15-16mpg in town and about 20mpg on the hwy. Took out the carbon filter on the air box and added an AFE dry filter.
Nothing rattles when i drive and the engine purrs...

Well, on second thought t may be tough bc that's probably the lowest priced Tundra, comparatively, in the area...so they've got it priced to sell. They may not feel as inclined to budge on it bc they know it'll sell at that price. $17,500 still isn't a terrible deal...that's assuming the truck is in excellent condition.

Right. I haven't actually seen this truck in person yet. It wasn't available when I was at the dealership. I drove a 2010 2wd V6 and a 2007 fully loaded 4wd V8.

So, I'm just hoping it is in great condition. I've only been sent pictures. Will go see it tomorrow.

I don't have a tundra, but I do have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner. I have had zero problems with it thus far, and from what I've read, you can't go wrong with either Tundra or Tacoma.

If you get the price you're looking for, go for it.

How much did you pay? Those things aren't cheap either.

Have 2010 tundra with the 5.7 and 150k miles. Never a problem. I just paid it off and can't wait wait to put another 200k on it
