I first heard Sam Smith when Disclosure released Latch - phenomenal song.
Then i found his acoustic version which is also pretty incredible.
His album, as a whole, is very meh IMO. His voice though is mesmerizing. I think he could have done a lot better considering the pipes he has. I was left wanting a lot from his album. But i think the potential is there

Your views are dead on. He has one of the best voices on the music scene today but the album falls far short of what I was expecting. If he doesn't go into a shell, he should do better on the next one.

He has incredible range and very unique voice. Some of his style is just meh to me though. He needs to stick to the type of stuff he did on SNL.

He's got the voice. He just needs the songs.
