This probably won't mean much to you if you're not a Baby Boomer, but when you look at what's going on in Washington today in a historical perspective, it's very unsettling to see how chronic the situation has become in regards to Government arrogance and disregard for the Constitution and the political process - most recently during IRS congressional hearings. This most recent appearance by IRS Commissioner Koskinen underscores that. While listening to him testify, with particular note to his tone, tenor and choice of words, one thought kept rolling through my mind: this man is evil. Yes - he still retains his individual rights, but to aggressively defend a line of reasoning that simply defies reason shows how far certain officials are willing to go to cover their tracks. They do this with great impunity, thanks to an assist from a dismissive Justice Department. At minimum, it gives the appearance that the current administration (at every level) relies heavily on half-truths, double-speak and jargon, thwarting duly authorized committee members to get to the truth. They simply dare congress and the American people to disprove their outlandish and unconvincing stories. To say that their testimony is a grand insult to Congress and the American people is putting it lightly. They simply do not believe in rules and are clearly exploiting those rules which govern these hearings. They lay down their dare, and the "Catch me if you can" tactics are in full play.

Knee-jerk critics will claim that Bush did this, Clinton did that, Reagan did that and so on, but I think the prevailing mindset of arrogance in Washington transcends all of that, and the speed at which it burst on the scene since Obama took office is nothing short of breathtaking - and alarming. Those promoting this agenda of anarchy and arrogance apparently saw the opportunity at some point to simply do what they want, when they want, with a strong supporting cast to clear the path.

If these current political episodes were somehow replicated and "copy and pasted" into any Presidential timeline from JFK to W, would the perpetrators have gotten this far? I think not. All of this has happened in a relatively short time span when compared top the total timeline of the country, beginning with the American Revolution. And that bothers me.

This is truly a rogue presidency, and while Democrats will publicly defend it, I'd venture to say that in their private thoughts, it's another story.

Teach your children well.
