It's already legal for in home use in AK. I feel like I'm in a time warp and back to the days of "reefer madness."

Fewer arrests, fewer people in prison, less time spending looking for fields and pouring over electric bills, less lawyer time. Less court time. Less paperwork.
Absolutely no way, the increase in DUIs offsets the massive decrease in time spent prosecuting weed.
They all know the simple fact that legalization means less money for their budgets which eventually will lead to layoffs.

A lot of these chiefs are old school and come from training that illegal drugs no matter the kind are the worst of the worst. They will find anyway to call this a bad idea no matter how much information is out there to the contrary.
I don't blame them necessarily because they have had this drilled in them from day one and human nature is notorious for now accepting change.

Through the first 5 months of legalization, violent and property crime was down 10.1% from 2013 numbers in Denver.

Nailed it in the first thread response.
Stossel did a whole program ten years ago or so about the incentive cops have to do drug raids, and it has nothing to do with getting dealers or users off the street.
