Thought I'd try to inject some good luck into the thread by switching up who starts it, all aboard the dhav14 Astros pain train McHugh on the bump tonight against the guy we beat when the Rays were at Minute Maid last week. Time to get back in the win column

Minor league note we promoted OF Jordan Scott from Lancaster to Corpus

I support you dhave. good to have some new blood at the top of the order. lets start a winning streak tonight. hopefully the blister issue is resolved for McHugh and he can return to form. We need to get some clutch hitting going. Hopefully we'll be seeing Correa moving to Corpus shortly after the allstar break.

Even though the Astros are back on a mini losing streak, they are still 5-5 over the last 10 games. If they had gone .500 in a 10 game stretch in April we'd have dancing bananas all over these DAT threads.

I think its a little too early to say the Astros are reverting back to the horrible team we saw in April and the last few season, but this 4-game series against the Rays is big to boost the fans' confidence back up (more importantly, to prevent these DAT threads of becoming a bitch fest again, ). I think we can all agree a regression was coming anyways. As long as they stay competitive over the rest of the season and have long stretches of .500 baseball, I'd be satisfied.

we need to get better at situational hitting. I don't know what the fix is for that. I don't ever blame the hitting coach because at this level I really don't believe they have much impact other than providing film room advice and encouraging guys. something has to improve.

I wish we could clone Altuve. he is becoming a beast since he changed his body and got faster and quicker.

It really is time to cut the dead weight off this roster.

Grossman is just not going to cut it here. Neither is Presley. I'd rather keep Presley as a bench guy and call up Santana as our everyday left fielder.

The same goes for Farnsworth, Fields, and Williams.

These 3 are gone as soon as Crain, Albers & White are ready

Grossman and Williams are garbage, I think I remember seeing something about Fields only giving up a run in 1 of his last 15 appearances before the DL, so maybe there's still hope with him. Farnsworth is old and isn't pitching well either.

Santana would probably strike out as much as Grossman if we called him up but hopefully he would have a better average and hit for more power. I'm sure we will see him at some point this year

That's exactly what we need. The pitching hasn't been as good over the last few games, but they were still all winnable games had the Stros gotten some timely hits. They need to improve discipline with RISP! Cant have bases loaded with 0 outs only to have 2 of the next 3 batters strikeout on balls in the dirt.

Speaking of situational...

It would be nice if somebody could lay down a fricking bunt when we need one

i'm secretly hoping we can trade for Stanton at the deadline and sign him to a contract. we have the prospects to do it.would be huge to add him to the top 4 in our order.

Astros should look into trading for Trout or Puig.

I know there has been a lot of debate on Dominguez in previous DAT threads. I am all for keeping Domingo around for the time being (meaning I don't think its necessary to address the position by overpaying on a free agent or anything).

I just don't think he has the skill set other than power to be sniffing the middle of the batting order right now. He shouldn't be batting anywhere near the 3-6 range, he is just being forced there on this team because of the lack of options right now. Same goes for Castro this season (Castro has been so bad that it looks like last years breakout season may have been a fluke).

But even with the low OBP, Domingo is still a .250 hitter with 25HR power at 24 years old. I cant wait to have the depth in the lineup that would enable us to bat Domingo 8th or even 9th. Having that kind of pop at the bottom of your lineup in the AL is legit.

Astros are currently set 1-4 with Dex, Altuve, Springer and Singleton. Correa will soon replace Villar and be an instant upgrade with the bat. A legit DH can be signed to upgrade Karter. And Santana/Preston/Free Agent will upgrade Grossman. That lets Castro & Domingo bat anywhere between 7-9, where they should be, and gives the Astros a LEGIT lineup from top to bottom where every guy can hurt you.
