Ken Epperson introduced a resolution in the Caddo Commission (think parish board or police jury) to turn down the money from Duck Dynasty to sponsor the Independence Bowl.

I heard the audio tape on radio. Here is what he said:

"I think the racis and the homophic and the pottyzin is not what we want."

His resolution failed 6-3. They takin' the money.

Of course they are. Monroe has The University of Louisiana located there.

I was told that Duck Commander paid 0 to become the sponsor of the Indy Bowl. What money are we talking about?

I have no idea. I was just amazed that Ken Epperson could not speak English.

Not sure exactly but I heard it was about the same cost as what Advocare was paying which was around $800,000 a year to be the lead sponsor.

I met a good ole boy and his wife from Dallas, originally from West Monroe. He got all pissy with me when I asked him if he knew the Robertsons. Said they were NOT from Monroe and he knew everyone growing up there and they're FOS. I told him I believe they're from north of S'port near the borders. THought that was funny. Seemed to think the Robertons were hurting his old hometown's image.

Willie was born in Bernice. North of Ruston. I know this because they have a big arse sign stating so when you first get into town.

Living in Shreveport sometimes makes me sad to see how people with absolutely no education or intellegence can be voted into office. Listening to some of our elected officials makes me wonder how great Shreveport could really be with any type of intelligent leadership.

Damn, that's cheap.

IYAM if the Duck Dynasty guys try to be entertainers and political players/kingmakers at the same time, they'll crash and burn at both.

ETA: my mom is a fan, and even she noted that in the season premier, they looked like they were mailing it in.

I was told all the money would come from sub-sponsorships that Duck Commander would bring (Bass Pro etc.).

However this was all told to me while they were still working out the deal. So I am wondering if it changed

This could be right but I think they are putting up $800K a year for the six year deal. It is also my understanding that they will be doing several small things throughout the year for free to keep the bowl relevant. DD and LSU just did a youth football camp at Indy Stadium. It is shaping up to be a great relationship, at least from the outside looking in.

There was a write up on the news stations site the other day about certain members of the community voicing the same concerns. I find it funny that they are clinging onto racism as a reason to not take the sponsorship when Willie has black children. They put on a free football camp this past weekend as well as fed the kids after. As hard as these sponsors are to find, you would figure they would take what they can get. I mean I dont see "on tyme fashion" stepping up to sponsor it. Some People in this town are just down right ignorant. But its that way nation wide. the victim mentality
