I would like to start storing my boat under one of those those metal carports you see everywhere for $675. Are they really only $675 or are there hidden costs (like delivery and installation)? And how long do they usually last?

I don't know about the price, but my neighbor has one that looks about the same condition as it did 12 years ago. Attach it to a the ground good or they will convert to hang glider mode with quickness in a strong wind.

$675 is for a specified height, width, length, etc. It's probably their more popular size. You could go cheaper (smaller) or more expensive (larger).

I'm considering doing the same thing but I'm thinking of pouring a slab to put it on and eventually adding extra panels and closing it in. I havent started looking at local prices but online for a 31' it is $875 and $675 for a12'x26'. my overall length of trailer tongue to motor is 26' so I'm thinking if going with a 31' cover

Sound advice right there.

Good idea on the slab. I was thinking of getting a 16' cattle panel and putting it on hinges to make a gate at one end.
