Can comparison be made of James/Hilliard to Fournette/Williams?

Not trying to foreshadow anything here, so you can calm down already.
Garry James was all-world running back coming out of the westbank, whereas dalton was much less known
both ended up being good enough to be drafted within the first 4 picks of the second round of the 1986 draft
hopefully this tandem can have same success at LSU to be so highly coveted at the next level (as much as RBs are now currently coveted)

what i mean is comparing them as it pertains to what we know so far....their prep stature and expectations entering LSU
I was too young to know what people really expected from these guys when they entered LSU. my guess is that the expectations of James were much like that of Fournette now.

The Dalton-James Gang was a rare combo. We can only hope the new guys are that good. If they are, Tigers will have some special seasons.

Almost every year we get a stud RB commit yet we haven't had a great one pan out in a while. Let's let one do something before crowning them Hilliard status. Hilliard is right under Faulk IMO and it would take a lot to duplicate that.

Hilliard was not the Fournette-esque prep recruit

I'd say Hill did pretty well for himself. However, it would have been nice to not have all the off the field issues, and to be able to get 3 years out of him.

I would hope the current twosome is better than hillard/james after they leave. Saying alot but high expectations and shite

If Williams ends up being a little bit better than Fournette, then sure.
I know you're alluding to this with your post, but Garry James was one of the top RB's in the country coming out that year. Dalton Hilliard was an after thought (so i see why you made this comparison).
I haven't seen Williams run. Is his style similar to Hilliard's? I thought I had read that he was more of a physical back?
