La Real Estate Broker Question

Can a broker in the state of La represent himself/herself when buying residential property for personal use? Does said broker get 3% commission which can be put towards a reduction in the purchase $?

I'm not a broker and/or agent. I've purchased property and had the seller's agent/broker drop their commission since I represented myself.

An actively licensed broker can be compensated when purchasing property as a principal...whether or not it's 3% is up for negotiation.

Yes they can and yes they can get the commission as well. The only stipulation is that they have to let all parties involved know they are a licensed agent.
