Couple questions about our chances of winning the WC

1). What odds would you give USA of winning it all this year? Not Vegas betting odds, just your odds of actually winning.
2). Do you think you'll see us win the WC in your lifetime? What odds would you give that?
3). Ridiculous hypothetical - obviously we're not close to being the best or most technical team in the world, but most would agree we're capable of beating the best teams if we play perfectly (maybe 1 out of 10 tries?). Is that a fair assessment?
So if we were to play with an extra man (12 vs. 11), would we consistently beat the likes of Brasil, Germany, etc 19 out of 20 times? Just wondering how big of an advantage an extra player would give USA, or if the talent gap is still too large.
Sunday is a longgg ways away, so don't get too upset over the offseason thread.

USA can beat anyone on any given night. Still not likely they will be able to do it for 7 straight (or 6 of 7 with the 1 off being in the group stage)

Short of Nancy Kerriganing the rest of the field it's so far away it's hard to put a number on it. However, we are light years ahead of where we were in 1990. We basically had a semi professional/olympic/college team then. We're headed in the right direction but we're still hundreds of years behind the rest of the planet.

Long. 100/1. Higher even.

Possible with a change in American sports culture. Can't place odds on that happening, but it does. For instance, baseball was the most popular sport 100 years ago. What will be more popular 100 years from now? Difficult to say.

What does this mean? Sometimes things go your way.

What about playing Brasil 12 vs. 11? Are we beating them every time, or do they still beat us some with a man down?

A strange hypothetical, and difficult to say. A more realistic hypothetical would be to think about a red card situation (11 v 10).
I would say no, we wouldn't beat Brazil every time, even with an extra man. But clearly our winning percentage would go up.

This.
That level of consistency is only bred with superior talent.
