About to embark on a multi-day fishing excursion and am wondering about the practicality and comfrt of the buff-type face/nack shields. They look completely ridiculous, but I'm not a big fan of melanoma so....

Anyone routinely wear one? Is it hot/uncomfortable or do you get over it and not notice it after a while?

Wear one every time I fish in Key West. You get used to them quickly.

When the guide puts one on immediately, you don't really feel self conscious about it.

How do your Costas not fog up?

I've used something similar for gnats, but not in the summer. Sunblock with whatever degree of protection you feel comfortable with would be my choice.
You can also get one of the lifetime hats mentioned in an earlier post.

I'm not a fan of cancer, so I wear something similar, along with a big arse hat and SPF 100

<==== loses too many sunglasses to spend $$$ on them.

I usually find them in deerstands the next hunting season.

Normally this is what I do but I'll be on a boat for probably 48 hrs straight and would rather not be constantly applying sunscreen.

Just a thought, no one will know who you are unless you tell them, wear it.

My brother swears by them. I'm neither for or against them.

I actually have the one in your picture and wear it often. It is nice and you get used to it quick. I am slightly overweight and found that it doesn't cover your neck as well as it does in the picture. I loved having it in the winter or on a cold run from one spot to another.

Same, I could perhaps see myself using something like that in the winter but in the summer, never.

People who fish often like myself wear them. They do what they are supposed to do. Those who make fun of them are probably shitty fisherman who fish a couple times a year.

I couldn't wear one. It would keep me from smoking and drinking beer while I fish.

Useful in the summer and awesome in the winter and when there are mosquitos. I do find it fogs up my glasses, so I have to uncover my nose. I fished every weekend from february to about 3 weeks ago and only thing that was red was my hands. I actually looked a little silly. Way better than re-applying sunscreen. I think simms makes one that's perforated to breath better
