There is something particularly concerning about the "masked, sociopathic murderers" who fight for the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), writes former state department official Andrew G Doran for the National Review.
Some of them, he says, are Western citizens who have travelled to Syria to fight President Bashar Assad's government - and have passports or other immigration paperwork that would allow them to return to their home countries whenever they want.
In fact, he says, citing the Daily Beast's Greg Sargent, perhaps a dozen are already in the US.
He continues:
These veterans of al-Qaeda and its affiliates constitute a fundamentally different threat than that which America faced in 2001: they are Western (at least in nationality); they are seasoned combat veterans; they are known, but perhaps too numerous to track.
quote:
If the US government officials are smart, he concludes, they're currently scrambling to track down all the ISIS-affiliated individuals who may be returning to the US from the Middle East. "Let us hope those efforts are successful," he writes
He must have forgotten who's in charge. Current leadership is more concerned about political enemies and covering their asses.

ISIS seems like the evil all-star team of everything that goes against classical Western liberalism.
Like they took all the shittiest components of their predecessors and combined them in to one super a-hole group.

NSA has no right to listen to our phone calls
Why isn't our government doing anything to monitor these American terrorists?

These people aren't your run of the mill suicide vest wearers. They seem to have no limits to their brutality and violence.
I hope the morons in charge up there (and I mean those from BOTH sides) stop tracking my and your cell phones and concentrate on the REAL threats to this nation.

Progs of America:
Targeting muslims who visit their homelands is nothing but racist targeting, therefore it's ok to tap my phones.

I'm of mixed emotions. I mean, ISIS obviousy blows arse, but if they blew up D.C., I'd be conflicted.

If only we had a secret program run by a Not-so Secret Agency that did this for us.
Thanks, Snowden!

Don't think I've ever stated anywhere they would be toppling or overtaking the U.S.. I do think it's quite viable that some bombings and attacks will happen on U.S. soil by them now though. With the border so open to the south and immigration so overwhelmed, I have no doubt there are cells in the U.S. now. Having over $400 million dollars to help fund their objectives, certainly won't help matters either.
I think loss of American lives to attacks by members of this group or AQ will be imminent and have been helped by the mass ineptitude of this administration.
However, progs would have you believe the partial evacuations of some personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, is simply folks getting some time off to celebrate We've Got Al Qaeda On The Run Day.
