What's in your "go bag"?

I've been talking with a few people over the past few months and they all seem to have a "go bag". I've got some camping gear and such but not a "go bag" as they call it for when/if the sh!t hits the fan. I'm trying to put together a list of things I need for one. If you have one what do you have in it and what do you not have that you want to add.
TIA
TIA

Better add a Patagonia t-shirt, square toe boots, and a pair of Costa Del Mar's just to be on the safe side.

Mine is laid out mostly with survival supplies, as if I were to have to flee civilization for a few days...mainly things like the following:
water purification tablets
small game snares
fishing kit
survival knife
travel sized toothpaste, soap, etc.
a few different methods to start a fire
one change of clothes
mosquito repellant
small first aid kit
money
a handful of basic high-calorie foods (power bars, etc.)
insect netting
survival blanket
signal device (mirror, etc)
para chord and small tarp
I have actually been thinking about putting together an alternate set of supplies for an urban survival scenario, but I haven't planned that out much yet....
I really think your best bet is to have a number of smaller, more situation-specific bugout bags that you can grab and put together into a bigger one for whatever situation you expect...

very good ideas...
something that I also need is some type of cup-sized metal container to boil water, foods, etc. in...

With the right hand crank radio you can power small USB stuff but to your small pot for boiling water. They had some guys on Shark Tank a year or two ago that had a small pot that would produce electricity to charge USB stuff by boiling water in the pot. Granted I think the hand crank radio with charging abilities plus a normal pot would be cheaper than their pot but it might be something you want to look at.

Yea they have small wood brining stoves that can charge USB
Might be talking about the same thing

After snowmageddon I started keeping a backpack in my backseat with a change of clothes, hiking boots, and some basic survival items (water tablets, emergency blanket, knife, etc.). Never again will I spend the night away from my family in an office 7 miles down the road because all I have on are leather loafers.

For a snow storm probably better to stay put in the office/shelter than make a 7 mile trek.

What makes you think there will be a " go time". I'm not trying to be an arse this is an honest question. I figure if things get that bad it would happen gradually. So what would be an event to say go grab "the bag"?

I bought me a smaller bag and started working on more of get home bag that was half the weight. I carried my current BOB around for a day and although manageable, it was too much for some instances. I am going to borrow some ideas from the BOB and then keep this in my truck.

No go bag here. Completely self sufficient at the house. 10 acre garden, cattle, chickens, pigs, fish and wildlife would keep me alive. Also have protection covered at the house along with fuel for tractor/truck, propane to cook and run generator. Would be last resort to leave home.

Arent there two kinds of go bags?
I keep one in my company car.....its my 'get back home' bag, because, according to what the situation is....i may stay home.
For folks that live in urban areas, you probably have a 'get away from home' bag.
My question is, since things really don't develop so fast, what constitutes widespread chaos in a matter of minutes?
Chances are, people aren't rioting in the streets and looting, seconds after the stock market drops 15% or if the world decides that the US dollar is not fiat currency anymore. If that news were to hit the wire, at noon, I don't see folks in downtown Charlotte looting and the like by 4pm.
It will take a few days or weeks to develop widespread chaos......or am I wrong?
(the only exception i saw was when Katrina hit--even here in Charlotte-- gas went up to $6 a gallon in hours, but there was no violence)
Truth is, NO ONE really knows or can predict what will happen, or how it will happen. But I have the feeling that I will have time to get my family out of town with warning.
