Crime Control, Detroit Style

Apparently Detroit is having an epidemic of violent crime taking place at gas stations (more than one per day).
Detroit's "crime control" is so bad that the city "has quietly discontinued putting out its 'Major Crime Summary Report' and instead now puts out a summary report of cases that have resulted in arrests" (proving once again Mark Twain's old adage that there are only three types of untruths: lies, damned lies, and statistics).
So how is Detroit planning to handle this problem? Simple--pass an ordinance mandating that gas station owners install surveillance cameras.

They should outlaw violence so these gas stations won't have any problems. Oh, and take peoples' guns away.

Look at the demographics of Detroit.
Find another major city anywhere in the world with comparable demographics that isn't dangerous.

I read an article recently that the sick security systems mean the criminals can't steal cars the normal way, which is leading to all of these carjackings.
