It's a tree climbing stand. Never seen that brand and doesn't look comfortable but it works the same way all tree climbing stands work so yes it works and works well.

I've been looking into rope ascenders. I've always had a bit of a fear of heights - not enough to keep me out of a climbing stand or anything - but heights make me nervous. Sometime in the future, I'm going to need a way to reach hawk nests. I think I'd feel better with ropes than I would with spurs.

That's the way to go now. Spurs are great but SRT (Single Rope Technique) gives you much more versatility in the tree to move about and is the future of climbing.
