The economists hadn’t reckoned on the fact that 93 percent of the HR staffers deciding whether to call in someone for an interview were female.

If certain stereotypes are true, how should you tweak a resume for your first level audience?

Should you make one that "pops" and after you get the call back, submit a revision that is more concise, straight forward, and boring?

Appealing layouts. Good language, a blend of styles.

During one stretch of interviewing when I was at LSU, things got slow and I was getting almost no interviews and wanted to make a change. I just went out and got some gold-colored paper clips and used them to clip my resume and cover letter together instead of the normal silver ones. I was shocked at the difference it made...actually got a few interviews with folks that had tossed my stuff the first time

this is what I'm getting at, the exaggerations that people read over and think it sounds good while anyone with an once of credibility and cynicism could see through.

like this I pulled off a asst mgr of a rite-aid

quote:

Analyzed the customers’ needs and developed an inventory position that increased sales and gross margin in each store.

WTF does an asst mgr of rite-aid have to do with inventory positions besides setting up a cardboard display according to company specs?

is it a lie, does she really believe that she was doing some high level shite?

Sucks for you to have to send your résumé to the Black Hole known as HR.

I always mix stuff like that in there, though it's never a lie, and I back it up with hard numbers, simultaneously.

A good resume shows how you solved problems, and demonstrates your vernacular in the process. Concision enables this.

Stupid question. Would submit the same resume as if it were being submitted to a woman or a man
