Money for sports while people suffer outrageous

The riots are a result of plenty of citizens' unrest and anger over Brazil even hosting the World Cup. A reported $11.3 billion went into the country constructing and spending money on the event, but people are outraged that hospitals, schools and housing remain veritably poor in so many areas.
Futbol in Brazil
This happens in most countries even our own for Olympics and other world class events, the spending of billions of dollars. Do we not get shown the protests by our media? Or do US citizens even care enough to protest such?

People in this country are too dumb to care. Plus, we value our sports teams far more than we value hospitals, schools etc...

We aren't a 3rd world country

I am positive Obama is working on distributing equally to all from the contracts of the NBA and professional sports in general. I bet that would go off smoothly.

So it is okay then when we spend billions upon millions to support sports but let the poor suffer with homelessness and starvation. We are better than 3rd world countries because the Red Cross can feed them and give them shelter. We can then go about our supportive nature of spending mega amounts on sports free of guilt and action to help?

It sounds like it was a 'shovel ready' project to me.

They will come close to making that back, or will exceed the numbers.
IF they fall short, all of the funds create jobs in their country.
It's silly to riot over this. It's like my college professors complaining when Neyland built a jumbotron. They are going to make ad revenue and turn a profit.

You won't see much angst or protests from our media until the next Republican administration takes over. All these things conveniently aren't a problem under this administration. Just like the financial melt down was all Bush's fault with no shared blame from a fully Democratic House and Senate who set the agenda just like our current problems are now conveniently all the House Republicans fault.

It's not just about the World Cup or the upcoming Olympics. It's about putting your country on display as a place for people to do future business in. Brazil isn't in bad shape financially anyways.

The standard of living our poor enjoy is way different than the standard of living their poor enjoy.
You can thank the social safety net/hammock for that

More than Brazilians love their soccer? No way.

Are we just supposed to hand them more? Most poor in the US are poor because of their choices, whether they have insight into that or not.

Nobody in this country is starving, and very few are homeless.

In my neighborhood, if we did not help, lots of folks might starve and more would be homeless. But do carry on. U don't listen to fity cent.

Gee, spending 11 billion building stadiums and whatnot, employing people, providing them with meaningful work so they can provide for their families is horrible. Then just think of the horror when tourists show up and spend money in the local economy.
I'm sure had they spent that money on what the protesters want and Brazil would have been transformed into an economy of full employment and poverty would be ended forever.

The gov took their $11B from their citizens in the form of taxes and basically gave it to FIFA....the citizens will not get $11B back. This has been proven multiple times over.

You should do a little research before posting next time.
