A couple of weeks ago, I would get 7-8 hours of battery life. As of today, I get about twenty minutes. Is this normal for this machine? 2010, btw.

I doubt that's normal. Mine is a 2008 and doesn't have that problem. The BL isn't what it once was but it's not that bad.

Sounds like you may have gotten the battery wet or damaged it

There have been no incidents that would make me think that.

Mine started doing the same thing and then the battery swole up. Something wrong with the MBP the does the same thing to any battery I put in it now. 2007 model and well out of warranty.

What would cause a battery to swell and how did you know?

The way I knew was the swelling cause pressure on the underside of the track pad and it stopped working. The swelling is being caused by the MBP over charging I believe. Because it is out of warranty I have been using it on power for now.

This happened on my 2009 earlier this year. The batteries go bad after so many cycles. Bought an after market battery on Amazon, and it works great now.
