I am building a pen that is roughly 800 sq ft for 2 pigmy goats. Do I need to use the goat panel fencing made of steel or would the Home Depot welded 14ga wire fencing suffice?

I may have to get my girlfriend a pygmy goat or 2 or 25 one day. She saw that video of the army of them chasing those two girls and can't get enough.

They'll get out of whatever you put them in, unless it's a concrete bunker.

Problem with women is they think it's cute until they have to deal with the army of goats.

That's what I'm thinking so I don't see the need to add an additional cost of $500 to $600 dollars to the project to use these steel panels versus welded wiring.

You really need chain link or a smaller size panel wire. Regular old "hog wire" is perfect size for them to get their heads through, then get stuck because they can't get their horns back out.

I was looking at the 2" mesh. I would think this is small enough to keep them from sticking their heads through the fence. Am I correct?

I have a BBQ pit they can't get out you can borrow.

You can use the welded wire too. Get it five feet tall.

I had six for my kids for years. The key is whatever fence you use, to double up your T-posts and pull it tight. They will try to push there head under it and stand up on it. I used the welded wire rolls at Home Depot and never had one get out. I did 4x4 corners and t-post every 8 or 10 foot.

Truff. I lost a boer goat by using cattle panels instead of goat ones.

To the OP, what I ended up with was electric fence for pastures and the smaller sized panels. Not the cattle ones, the size down.

You could do that and run a single hot wire too. That'll keep them away from it.

My dad buys the cattle panels from tractor supply for a little under $20 each. They are 52"x16' long and are made of heavy gauge wire that is welded together. Holds goats and his two cows and two miniature horses. No problems yet.

I would personally just get a 4-foot wide roll of 2X4 welded wire and some T posts...no need to spend more than necessary and you have a fence that will hold most any farm animal...had everything from goats to chickens in pens made with that...
