Got in my truck tonight (05 Ford F-150 / 80k miles) and the back axle / rear differential is making a terrible creaking noise every time it makes a revolution. Want to bring it in somewhere that isn't the dealer because they have fricked me more times than I can count on one hand.

Anyone know an honest good mechanic because I know nothing about cars?

I always used to go to the University Texaco on Highland just north of campus. It was like dealing with the soup nazi of mechanics, but it was always done well and at a good price.

No clue if they are still there though. Lately I've been going to Gordon & Sandifer on Perkins... good work, but they seem a little on the high side for prices.

Then learn. Because there aren't any. Seriously, its a Ford, they aren't that difficult to work on. Which is a good thing, because its its a Ford.

Don't know if they work on that specific type problem, but University Car Care on Highland does good work for a good price.

Maybe if they had a mechanics union with a minimum wage OP could get his truck fixed right and for a good price.

It was on Highland.. not too far from the old Chelsea's location, in the ghetto near Red Flower (RIP).

Tinh at Highland Car Care.

Very good guy, a true mechanic's shop. Not just a parts changer.

Second the motion on Jason @ K&M. Good work, fair price and best of all, timely.

Have the axle seals been leaking? Very common on F150 of that year. Look at the back side of the rear tires at the hub and see if there are oil stains on the hub.

And in high school...he had the best pick off move to second base. Better than anyone I have ever seen at any level.

If Jason doesn't work out...Try Neil. LINK
