Voted the "Best Sports Bar in North America", the facility which will be called Walk-On's Halfcourt, will open a scaled-down version on Third Street in the Lee Overton building next to Happy's Irish Pub.

I'm down. Not my favorite place, but it'll be a decent addition to party downtown and the only sports bar that I can think of in the area.

It'll do well there?
I guess downtown lunch crowd? Random drinkers at night? During the week in the evening and nights, could be pretty slow. Friday and Saturday nights it'll probably do well.

Just read the Advocate article. It's gonna be called Walk-On's "Halfcourt." Smaller menu and about 1/3 the size of the Towne Center location.
Gonna serve as a model for future openings in downtowns and airports
Eta: Will be located right by Happy's

It will be dead. Downtown BR doesnt get much traffic during the week and I doubt people are going to make the trip downtown to go to a scaled down walkons when the other two are technically closer to thr rest of the city.
but hey, when you got money to burn and your other places make money hand over fist, you can have some locations that might break even to extend your name

I think long-term it will be great. I do agree it might be rough for the first few years.
There's a shite ton of apartments/development popping up downtown. With more to come

there is no way they can fix the shite they put on the table if they keep expanding.

Great might be stretching it. Its still Walk Ons in downtown BR. I think it would be better off if they really scaled back the food and focused more on a sports bar. Pretty much take the whole elevated part of their current Burbank location and put that in downtown BR. All bar area and a few tables and booths around the outside could do well. Have a few items like their cheese fries, sandwiches, etc for food.
And get rid of those hideous uniforms they now wear. Whoever made the decision to go with that crap needs their head examined.

I have mixed feelings about their food. Some items they do well like cheese fries, chicken sandwiches, the wraps, and the ahi tuna salad. Thats about all I will get there.
Some items are pretty expensive and just not up to par with the price. Alligator app is expensive and about 1/2 to 2/3 the size of Chimes. The angels on horseback app is expensive and the portion is laughable.
Their drinks specials are good for their well and shite beers.
But yea their expansion of places has happened that they never stopped to look at the quality of some of them.

I see it being a draw for the state workers at lunch, but that's about it. Dinner will stink it up on weekends. Downtown is a dead end street, and somewhere you have to go out of your way to go to, not pass by and stop in. I can't name a person who would venture downtown and have Walk On's as their destination when they can do that off Corporate or LSU.
People here really do struggle in getting their minds around the whole downtown concept.
