I've never port forwarded before and i'm needing some help on how to do that. I'm wanting to be able to view my cameras from phone/tablet/web.
My router is a motorola nvg510 (uverse special). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

They're all similar but here's a video of setting it up on your particular router.
ETA:
Okay, I haven't watched the video but from the comments it sounds like the guy doesn't know a whole lot.

Does your security system not have instructions for this?
Is there an app specifically for your system?

I have the step up but the router settings are the same.
-go to the local webpage for the router (192.168.1.254 by default, I believe)
-click on "Firewall"
-login with your device access code (on the side of the router if needed)
-click on "NAT/Gaming"
-click on "Manage Custom Services"
-enter a "Service Name" in the provided box (this can be anything you want it called)
-enter the port range (this info should be provided by the manufacturer of the security system
-click "Add"
-find the new custom service you created in the top dropdown
-find the name of the device in the lower dropdown
-click "Add"
-enjoy
