Which Baton Rouge grocery usually has the best cuts of steak? It's not something I usually buy but will be grilling next weekend.

Calandros is good because they do have some prime beef but their selection is limited.

Since they are in caps, they must be extra special.

Whole Foods has a great selection and their butchers will cut it any way you want. I like that they do it in front of you instead of going to the back room where you can't see.

La Morenita also has an interesting meat department but good luck if you don't speak Spanish.

I have mixed feelings about Maxwell's Market, at least the one on Corporate. Meat often looks old and I've had a few occasions when pork and chicken were spoiled when I got it home. Ask to smell it first.

LeBlancs out here in God's country aka Prairieville has a legit meat section. Dryaged/prime/grass fed they have a good selection

Why if a chain has a butcher who can cut meat why is that sad?

But you can ask the butcher for anything and they will cut it for you.

IMO, Whole Foods has the best steak--the dry aged ribeye. In fact, I may have one tonight.

I usually go to Calandro's when I'm looking for a prime cut, but find that Albertson's usually has what I need if I'm just looking for a choice ribeye.

Tramonte's is another option if you live/work out that way.
