Was at a bar with a buddy the other night (he's from Texas) and we were talking about whether or not Texas is a "southern" state or something of it's own.

I'm from South Carolina originally, and know that many from Texas consider Texas to be it's own entity. I know there are a lot of Texans on TD, so I was wondering what the general consensus is.

Yep. Texas is its own country. If we wanted to be southern we would invade and take over.

Texas is like a country unto itself. I kind of wish they would secede so we could invade them. Not a big fan.

No. It has similarities and East Texas feels very southern but it's different.

I've always considered them one. I certainly don't feel like I've left the south when I cross the sabine.

I wish Texas had never been annexed in 1845. Their false sense of superiority is pretty comical.

The hate for Texas is strong here. Something's never change.

Our true sense of superiority.

Sure did a lot for your unappreciative swamp you call a state 10 years ago.

There is an easy way to figure this out. Does the state of Texas gain more influence from their western borders or their eastern borders. I'm willing to bet that the entire state is a whole lot more like NM than it is LA. Just my 2 cents.

It doesn't gain much influence from either of those places, that's the point.
